Bouncing Seat
Developing a quiet, yet following seat is the holy grail of horse riding. Many riders struggle with staying relaxed yet supple, especially during bouncy movements like extended trot. Although acquiring a great seat takes time and practice, there are things that riders can do to develop their seat more effectively.
- How This Helps
The bands activate your core and deep stabiliser muscles, which helps you to achieve a deeper, more stable seat. The elasticity of the bands encourages you to keep your joints and spine soft and supple, minimising stiffening and bouncing.
Another common issue which can be caused by tight hip flexors, or the deeper psoas muscles (as well as other imbalances). Can present itself during lateral work especially.
- How This Helps
Wearing the bands during riding helps to activate the correct deep muscles to maintain a level pelvis. We recommend combining with off-the-horse exercises to target the cause of the problem effectively. During rides, the bands will help rewire neural pathways to ensure that beneficial muscle chains are activated.
Many riders struggle with the heels being drawn up. This causes instability in the seat and makes leg aids less precise and effective. Pushing the heels down forcefully is not a solution as it pushes the rider's seat out of the saddle. Instead, the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the legs must gradually lengthen.
- How This Helps
The bands gently encourage you to stretch down through the heels, by giving you a point of elastic resistance to spring into. Use them with or without stirrups. You will notice an improvement very quickly. They are also very useful for riders who struggle to keep their heels down on one side more than another.

10 minutes can be enough to create a clearer feeling.
Use them once a week for general improvement, or more often when you are solving a specific position issue. The goal is not to make riding harder. The goal is to make the right feeling easier to find.
